The Plot Request and Idea Thread!

So people like to ask for things relating to their characters advancing. Such as asking for a plot that gets them a certain thing or just does something to advance the character and make it more interesting. I'm damn glad too, since player pro-activity was something I'd been wanting to see. The following is a list of guide lines that will make requesting it much easier for both the DMs and you to get a request across.

Guide lines

-The first thing I'd like to ask; Don't request anything ridiculous. Like don't ask for something like a super staff of hellballs and world rending + 50 or a gauntlet of massive supr mgc + 124124. Keep item requests simple and if the intent is to build up to more powerful items later along the plotlines, excellent!!

-Nothing that will give you some ridiculous godlike amount of power. Power is rewarded to those willing to work for it.

-Be creative. What this means is don't let a lack of knowledge of Forgotten Realms Lore or SoTU lore effect your ideas. Nothing saying new things like a roving band of ogres or even a conspiracy couldn't happen.

-Please don't make it overly extensive! By that I mean you don't need to write an essay.

-You will need to post your Gamespy name and Character name before the idea so that we know who it is requesting or suggesting it.

-Don't do anything excessive. I can't stress this enough; We're a dark fantasy setting but stupid things like gang rapes are a no.(We've had this requested before. )

-Further more, be open. We aren't out to be douchebags and laugh at your ideas and if we see a problem with something we won't shoot it down, instead we will try and help you revise it.

For the sake of this, I'll tact on a few more suggestions and words.

-While somewhat counter-active to what Caldera said, if you 'do' extend your plots to multiple events, make sure you can help us in making clear breaking points in the plot to do each event at once. Along with that, leave gaps in the plot for players to fill- this is role play and if the story goes off course we will work with you on the possibilities of the new direction.

-Depending on whether you plan to make this expand to multiple events or just one, something to put into focus is what the exactly conflict might be. Roleplaying is like story telling.
Whether you do an external conflict such as a battle between factions or even an internal conflict which the party needs to assist your character; keep in minds that there must be visible complications and normally at the end of any good story, something to be learned, or a realization. With each physical challenge, there is a mental one.
A good example could be a man who has grieved deeply for a dead one, asking the party to gather things in a desperate attempt to make it all right; only to realize he needs to simply let go.

-If you need custom NPCs, ask for them; give me a list of things you want from them; but please, don't make them yourselves(most of the time). I only request this since I'm constantly trying to get the feel for what mobs 'should' be like and its best if I get full control of such.

-Areas on the other hand...try to keep those to yourself, I can and will help if you need brushing up, but I have a lot as it is. On top of that, it is wise to not make areas with one time uses.

...I have other tips later, but lets just say to put it simple; to make an event/plot, you have to think like a DM would.
