Born in Neverwinter, Darrian grew up with both of his parents, though his childhood was harsh. His father was an alcoholic (see Cause of Death.) and regularly beat his mother. Though, despite this, they could afford to give Darrian an education.
When Darrian was 14, his father drank himself to death. His mother being unable to support Darrian by herself, she was left with two choices -- send him off to become an apprentice to a blacksmith, or ship him off to the military. She chose the latter.
Eventually Darrian grew tired of the trivialities of military life and decided to leave. Since then, he has wandered about in life, seeking a goal and companions.
