Double Post, but an important one.
I have taken way too long to post this idea down for the public. I have no idea how this will turn out but if I suspect the system does not work or exploitation occurs due to it I will drop this policy as a DM.
As its described on the DM board by Cool himself, these plots are ultimately the player's story...so I thought, why not actually let the players in on making these stories if it theirs. The idea is if you take the initiative or want to take it with a character to advance themselves and their own agendas then come to me about setting up a plot. Of course there will be limits, the plot has to be able to integrate other players into it without feeling forced, and ultimately I'm still the DM and plot producer, meaning even if this plot is your idea, I will be the one creating the scene and at the end of the day the one with the best idea of how the plot might go down.
Here's an example. Let's say that Darrian (*shot*) wanted to prove himself to Mariah and decides to embark on a journey of slaying Khaos members for her. NezzedOne would go to me, mention that he wants to do a plot involving the slaying of Khaos members for a certain motivation brought from the character. This would allow other players to join in like Marz as his trusty and silly side-kick through-out since Khaos is not something one man can fight alone. Also since he only gave me an outline of what he wants the plot to look like at the start it can go in a lot of directions by my choice so that the players continue to be left in the dark, surprised, and entertained.
