Me and Celvantis have been in the middle of making areas for SotU for the past couple weeks and as of right now we're starting to fill the quota for areas that need expand/redesign/etc, but we need a little extra, something new and fresh.
If anyone has any suggestions for completely 'new' areas to make post them here. Any type of area you'd like, could even include a bit of lore or a name to tell us what you're vision is exactly.
Update: For everyone to follow, here's the current status of all areas.
In progress: Mountain Village Inn Interior Deserted Town Soaring Wings Outpost Revamp
Pending: Purple Shore - Descent (Connects Mountain Village to rest of Purple Shore) Purple Shore Revamp (or at least the Old Port) Citadel/Island Expansion Atra Temple Monastary Interior Quarry Revamp Library Interior Expand on Swamps Barbarian Lands (past North Wall) South Eastern Run Wall
Finished: Mountain Village Revamp Skyline Mountain Ascent (connects Mountain Village to Monastary) Skyline Mountains- Mine Entrance North Wall (it's an actual wall now with Captain Merry in Imperial design) Port Revarine Castle Exterior and Interior Skyline Mountains- Beratilda Mines (Will connect Deserted Town to Mountain Village) Bonus Material :3 Fey Village Revamp + Expansion (surprise)

Everything in the city is pretty much perfect as is.
There's a few areas farther away from the city that need to be looked at, though, and as huge as the mod is, I would be careful about what areas you actually do add. Last thing you want is a mod that looks like a hodge podge of weird, different areas all mashed together.

Agreed, so far on our list of 'redo' have all been away from the Port itself (exclude the wonderful interior and exterior area for the Castle which Cel made): Soaring Wing Outpost, the North Wall(mostly just needed NPCs replaced), and Purple Shore(this with the mountain village is very weird combination). On expansion is the mines and the deserted town, monastery interior, and possible more to the Citadel (maybe explore the area out of the town itself, it's a large island).
For new areas, definitely will make sure the areas fit. Celvantis has the biggest urge to do a waterdeep style City but is trying to hold it off : P while Nez had all these suggestions and the Atra shrine/temple was the only one I accepted since it could be tucked underneath Fjorsette.

Yeah, I don't think me and cel building an underwater laboratory would do much good for the server. As for accepting that area that's not my call.
But yes, any suggestions people?

All the areas listed are fine IMO. But a suggestion: do something about the castle exterior. It sacrifices immersion for prettiness so much that it kills it. Why? The cliff sides are now walls, the area lighting is too far different from the city, and it doesn't bear any of the ocean sound effects like the original area. I still don't understand why the tileset was changed.
As for anything else, try and keep the same area lighting and sound effects for replaced areas. Example: Purple shore. Although I don't know if that was replaced or not.

Basically, immersion > prettiness.

I actually think the current (it's not been replaced) Purple Shore when it's linked to the Mountain Village is immersion breaking cause it's a desert tileset. Anyway, if the only issue with the Castle Exterior is lighting and the cliffs, I think we can easily fix the lighting.
But yes, we're about to start going through these current areas to expand and by next week I might have the mines completely done so please put suggestions for -new- areas please. I want to work with the time I have while I'm motivated to build.

Yeah, snowy mountains to sandy coast doesn't fit. It's not meant to be a direct connection but rather a long path, over and down to the coast. Did you have any ideas for what to connect the two with? Purple Shore (wrong lighting in this picture) Sandy & dead at the bottem, life at the top, craggy outlook, constantly flooding with the tide. The exterior area with the mansion is a good example of what it's like above the crags. The desert tileset works good with it but it can be made to look more rocky.

If you get on and I happen to also, I'll show you what I did with the transition between the monastery and the mountain village (there's one little problem but it couldn't be helped). I might do something as such where I make a new area with the desert tileset, add snowy fog and have some floor snow at the top and let off as we go down. Though the success of it in a desert area might be lower.

Well, I you already got my Atra temple idea. But for other suggestions, maybe add a few areas to the Citadel or even do something with those other islands in that general area.

I was adding more details to the maps and it just occurred to me that the mountain village doesn't have a name. Want to name it? Should be something that'd sound like it'd fit with the Auduilian.

I'll name it soon enough. Also got the mines about done with some bonus content. It'll be in the module soon.
