As we're all waiting patiently (or impatiently) for the launch, I can fill you in on what to expect and what not to for when it does.
First of all, prioritizing was done and some things were cut out in favor of speeding things along and will be worked on after the launch. This is mostly area building so don't fret if you find yourself at a dead end while exploring.
Secondly, nearly everything was done from scratch and hasn't been fully tested so its very crucial that any bugs are reported so they can be fixed as soon as possible. Some stuff can't ever be tested until we get a bunch of people on the server. This is especially true for spell usage and the item balance.
With that out of the way, here's some of the stuff the stuff that's different in comparison to Evereska and VoC:
Item Gathering
While still given the option to customize the appearance of your items, you still have to find them yourself. This means you can only find certain item types in certain locations, making some rather rare. As a suggestion, when making a melee fighter, I would focus on longsword, shortsword, and greatsword feats since those are the most common blades found (and most plentiful). All of the generic NwN items have been remade and replaced entirely several times over, some alright, some great, and some... with interesting side effects. Some arn't even restricted to the NwN item properties as they have added scripts to do extra stuff. As for merchants, not every store has every item and some stores have to be found.
The NPCs
I've personally tried to make an effort to make NPCs do more than just sit around on their bums. Almost all of the AI has been reworked. They now do things like sleep, stalk, and much more. Town guards will call for help when they need it. So if you really want to attack them, just be wary. Smaller, weaker enemies don't do anything special yet but I'll take the time after launch to look into it.
Area Exploring
Secret areas are out there. Find them. They all have a hidden item and maybe something more. Other areas, as mentioned above, are still under construction and will probably never cease being constructed. So, feel free to come back to an area to see if anything new was added or changed. There is sense to how things have been put together and after launch, I'll release a map detailing the setting. If, for whatever reason you come across an area with strange, unintentional features like floating placables, broken transitions, or incorrect compass placement, report it so it can be fixed. Also look out for typos and any references to a no longer existing town called Foresight Village.
I'll add more to this if I can remember anything else later on. Feel free to ask questions, you can reply to this thread, it's not locked out as opposed to the Server Info Board. The server will probably be up sometime tomorrow. If not, blame Will. >
