If you all haven't noticed, or maybe it's just the rare few of us, SotU has been more than a little boring lately. Maybe it's the lack of RP, the lack of action, or maybe it's neither, but we ARE lacking something here. If we weren't, more people would be playing and it wouldn't be one of those head vs. wall matches every time we logged on.
Does anyone have any suggestions, comments, anything? Hopefully we can find a way to revive the server but I'm starting to doubt that we can do anything about it at this point.

Should weaken the monsters for new characters and make more hack and slash areas with decent rewards.

Well, as I once stated. It's a level 25 server vault so there can be alot missing. There's no real gain in killing monsters except for money. There's no XP gain or long-term plans, ect. Well, it could be that, I am not sure. If we got rid of the straight-to-level-25, I think it'd make us more of a grinding server and I think that's what the original creators wanted to avoid. And it seems like some of you are missing the point that the fun of randomly killing monsters kind of wears off after a while. I think the whole original idea of the server was to make a fun RPing environment and I think the lack of players is really hitting that and making the RP scarce to nonexistant.

I wish I knew when things were happening or if people were on, then I'd be on more :/
I don't tend to get on just to take up player slots.

Stagnation = Death. If you're not growing or changing you're dying. I've added some more monster killing areas and I plan on adding more, to entertain the time spent between plot events, and to give adventurers sort of a "job" to do, to earn money to buy better equipment. However, obviously that won't solve anything. If you look at all the great RP servers they generally have three things:
1) Sense of player progression 2) Sense of player's effecting the world 3) Conflict
We are missing number 3 the most, I think. We need to make more antagonistic characters. I'm not suggesting straight out PvP (even though some find it enjoyable), but with Kybshe gone we really have no characters rooting for evil. Well, not just good vs. evil just generally conflicts of interest. We need another DM to help facilitate this and I am looking for others. More players would also help as well.
We are a small summer group, and we probably always will be. NWN is our silly little game we play together like a bunch of neckbearded DnD nerds meeting in my mother's basement. However, what do you all think about seeing if there is some way, in the Bioware community, to get our server's name out there? The Neverwinter Nights community is still very large, and I know all of you know the feeling of wandering around the server browser, looking for a new mod to sate your curiosity with. I would certainly like to bring in some new blood, and our mod is actually of much, much, much higher quality than about 95% of the other mods out there. (Mostly thanks to Cristy's excellent scripting prowess.) I think if people saw what we have, they'd be interested.
Neverwinter Nights itself is far from dead, and is one of the most populated PC games ranked according to Gamespy to this day. We should probably draw players from that considerably deep pool. However, we won't be able to unless we stick our hands in, no one knows we exist.

Yeah, we're missing the drama and the love/hate thing that actually exists in real life with the RP. Buuut as Coolreject said, we do need more players. The question that's presented before us now is how to recruit and then keep those players. Most are probably used to the grinding found in most servers today so coming to SotU and seeing that you start out at 25 is going to be a shock at first, I suppose.
We need to figure out HOW to get our name out there, then, it seems. And yes, our server is pretty good...or at least our RP is. After going on to some servers and checking out some of what we're up against, their RP is crud.

Make up your minds what kind of world this is - When I first had people nudging at me to get back on, the first thing they told me was, "This was only going to be whenever, it's not persistent". Now it's starting to look persistent again and people are complaining about all the things that we lack to make it more entertaining during the down time, more persistent. I'm not here for the persistence. I don't have the stamina for persistence. I just want to be able to login at one time, preferably consistently, and know that "in a few moments there'll be people". Talk to people catch up, plot, hang out for awhile, then gone. Besides, the server can't even handle persistence. It crashes just trying to let one DM on in the morning, and good ol' admin isn't even up until afternoon ET anyway. >_> So why not stick to the original idea and make a server that's meant for our community to just have some fun and enjoy at specific times in the evening or during the week? If people want to join they'll see it when it's up and running...EVENINGS. I hate this idea of leaving it up at all hours. Half of y'all aren't even awake before noon. It's useless to pretend it's there when the host isn't awake, the DMs are off someplace else, and there isn't anything on there to do in the mean time. Gotta be reasonable.

The pink monkey approves!
For some reason seeing my name next to wrath doesn't compute. XD It'd be like cowering at the rage of an obnoxious little toy terrier.
