After trying to put in a flintlock musket and pistol, I have run straight into a brick wall. My original plan was to replace the bullet ammunition type for... gun bullets... and heavy crossbow with a flintlock musket and the sling with a flintlock pistol. But Unfortunately, I discovered that I cannot switch the ammunition type of the heavy crossbow to use bullets no matter what I do. It will either use bolts or won't work at all.
Now while I can still replace the heavy crossbow with the flintlock musket and make it use bolts as a separate ammunition from the bullets anyways, the issue with doing it that way is that shooting a wooden stick out of a gun is not very fun at all. Not only that, but it would use the same sound effect as the original bolt. I could switch the bolt over to use more bullet-like attributes, but that would mean the light crossbow would also be shooting bullets!
And so, through this frustration, I thought perhaps replacing both crossbows or both bows instead would prove to be a better idea. This way, we would have two separate weapons using the same ammunition type and still have all proper sounds, projectile models, etc. Personally, I would choose to have both bows replaced since they seem so inferior technology-wise but I put up a poll for you guys to decide.

I'd go for both crossbows. No one really uses crossbows, but short bows and long bows are still pretty popular, and cool. Also, the way a crossbow works seems to remind me more of an old pistol or musket. (Can only fire once per round unless you have rapid reload, only ranged weapon you can use while prone in PnP)

Crossbows it is then.
Also, as a separate question, how would you guys feel about me replacing the sling with a repeating crossbow? I discovered remnants of one left behind by Bioware and it gave me the idea.

I think it would be good to change the sling, nobody uses it anyways. And, a Deagle is a Desert Eagle, a weapon that people uses today.

Would the animation for usage be replaced as well? The crossbow animation could in theory work with a musket or any type of firearm, but your sling animation would look weird as heck to reconfigure with a repeating crossbow.

The animations I plan on stealing from the d20 haks, so yes, they are changeable.
